Put into law in California in November 2008 after 52% of voters approved it, Proposition 8 acted to amend the state constitution to redefine marriage as being between a man and a woman, something that Courage Campaign and Lamba Legal of California and New York have been trying to reverse ever since.

Speaking in an online press release released earlier this week, Rick Jacobs, the leader of the Courage Campaign spoke of a need for the LGBT community to come together as one if they were to win the fight, and that due to a lack of resources, and in turn a coherent plan, this was not the right time to be pushing ahead.

Lambda Legal backed up the sentiments of Courage Campaign with it’s own statement which highlighted a need for more time, education and research if there was to be a real chance of repealing Prop 8, saying they believed it did get to the ballot in 2010 it would be likely that it would fail.
