The ever gorgeous Sandra Bullock won best actress for her role in the film Blind Side at the Oscars last night, and used her speech to not display her gorgeous sense of humor and graciously praise the talents of the fellow nominees, but also to pay tribute to the mothers
“…who take care of the children no matter where they come from. Those moms and parents never get thanked.”
Going on to pay tribute to her own mother for making her the woman she is today, Bullock emotionally spoke of how:
“I, in particular, failed to thank one… so if I can take this moment to thank Helga B for not letting me ride in cars with boys till I was 18 because she was right I would have done what she said I was going to do… for making me practise every day when I got home – piano, ballet whatever it is I wanted to be. She said to be an artist you had to every day, and for remind her daughters that there’s no race, no religion, no class system, no colour, nothing, no sexual orientation that makes us better than one another.”
Undoubtedly one of the best speeches of the evening, just like Bullock’s own mother acted to inspire her, Sandra’s own words are already starting to have a similar impact with the social networking site Twitter filled with praise for the actress:
“Loved the Academy awards. I must see some of the movies honored. Glad Sandra Bullock won best actress. Her acceptance speech was awesome.” – @Piphay
“Sandra Bullock’s acceptance speech at the Oscars was probably the best I’ve ever heard…what a class act” – @Stewartwife
“Would like to thank Sandra Bullock for her shout out to the gays in her speech. This gay boy appreciated it!” – @Johnnie_cakes
“Sandra Bullock: There’s “no sexual orientation that makes us better than anyone else.” Thanks Sandy! #Oscars #lgbt” – @chrisgeidner
Undoubtedly a hugely important moment in her life, Bullock has managed an unusual double this week, not only winning the best actress award for The Blind Side at the Academy Awards, but also the Razzie the day before for worst actress in the comedy All About Steve.
