The Telegraph in the UK has reported that the discovery of an Easter Egg in the Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 game, produced by Activision, is likely to outrage the LGBT community because of it’s homophobic content.
Occurring within the game’s campaign mode, the “easter egg” sees two US troops have the following conversation:
Troop 1: You ever seen a grown man naked?
Troop 2: (laughs)
Troop 2: Hey man you still gay? I’m kidding. Don’t ask don’t tell.
Troop 1: No ammo, no armour
Troop 2 : Ha ha ha! That’s why I’m a cool-blooded carnivorous warrior bro!
Here at Queeried we have to say we see it less of a dig at homosexuality, and more at the current Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy in the US. In fact what is the most worrying element of it all is the fact that a high profile paper like the Telegraph in the UK felt it was appropriate to run a story like this that acts to create divisions between groups that don’t exist.
Do you disagree? Are you offended by the inclusion of the above conversation in Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2? Let us know what you think below.
