5 Heartwarming Coming Out Stories That Shows The World Truly Is A-Changing
Deciding to come out as gay to people is never easy. You don’t ever truly know how they’ve going to respond and more importantly you don’t know how it’s going to change the relationship that you have with them. Will they accept you for who you are or will the discovery that you’re someone different to who they imagined end up changing it all? For a lot of us we’ll have all too sadly experienced the latter where those who we’d think would be most accepting turn out to be quite the opposite, however sometimes friends can prove they’re worth their weight in gold as these examples from “It Made My Day” show (prepare to feel all warm and cuddly towards the world):
1. The I Thought You Were Dying Response
I recently came out to one of my male friends. His reaction? “Phew! When you said you had something important to tell me I thought you might be dying…” IMMD
2. I’m Gay, I’m Not Response
I once had a friend come out to me and the conversation when something like this:
“I’m gay.”
“I’m not.”
“You’re okay with it?”“Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Okay, then.”
“Okay.”
3. The Gmail Chat Response
one of my friends came out to me rather awkwardly.
he said he was gay over Gmail chat.
so I said “ORLY”
“Yeah.”
then before he could respond I said “That’s cool”
then he submitted “you think it’s gross, right?”
then he said “oh.”
“:D”
“Ok then, I’m glad you’re so lax.”
4. The Is That All Response
My friend worked as a cashier. I went thru her line one day and she said, “Did you hear about Courtney?” Courtney was her 18 year old daughter who I adored [strictly in a motherly way!]
Horrified, scared, I said, “No. What?”
She just looked really sad. I grabbed her and said, “TELL ME!”
She said, “She’s gay. She’s living with Amy.”
I let out my breath and said, “BFD. I thought you were going to tell me she was in a car accident or something.”
The woman was shocked at my reaction. She found out most people were like me. It’s all good, if you aren’t hurting other people.
Life is short. Be happy. Not everyone finds love, and if you do, you are blessed.
5. The “Cool. Can we go back inside? It’s cold” Response
One of the best reactions I got when I came out was from my best friend. We were in high school at the time, and I’d only just admitted the truth to myself. I figured, what with him being my best friend and all, he deserved to hear it first, so I asked if I might have a word with him in private.
So we step outside, and I’m just screwing up the nerve to tell him when he turns to me and says “Bro, I’ve got something important to tell you. You’re gay… possibly bisexual, I’m not sure.”
Me: Bi, actually.
Him: Cool. Can we go back inside? It’s cold.
