5 Ridiculous Arguments By The Catholic Church Against Gay Marriage

All of us have something we really don’t like. For some of us it’s cabbage. For others of us it’s Turkish Delights. Now they can make life a little difficult for other people if someone is hosting a Cabbage or Turkish Delights only party, but generally it doesn’t tend to impact too much on everyone else. The dislike that the Catholic Church and particularly the Vatican has isn’t so limited on it’s impact, mainly because it’s not for a vegetable or a chocolate. It’s for gay marriage.
Yes if there’s something that the Catholic Church really can’t stand it’s gay marriage, and like all you Cabbage and Turkish Delight haters out there will make up all kinds of excuses of how the taste of it acts to spoil and ruin everything else that you eat, the Catholic Church is pretty darn good at making up it’s own ridiculous reasons as these five arguments against gay marriage reveal:
1. Buenos Aires Archbishop Jorge Bergoglio on Argentina Gay Marriage Bill
“Let’s not be naive, we’re not talking about a simple political battle; it is a destructive pretension against the plan of God.
“We are not talking about a mere bill, but rather a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God.”
Now personally I had always assumed getting married was all about showing the person you’re with you’re committed to being with them forever. What a fool I am. The only reason we all want gay marriage is to ruin God’s plans, nothing to do with that ridiculous thing called love.

2. Pope Benedict XVI On Gay Marriage And Abortion
“… are most insidious and dangerous challenges that today confront the common good”
Yes that’s right. War and terrorism aren’t any kind of danger to the world at all. If you see two gay people going off to get married at the same time as you see a potential suicide bomber, according to the Pope you should be trying to prevent the former from happening. The terrorist, well he’s just fine to do as he wishes.

3. Pope Benedict XVI In Response To Proposition 8 Vote
“The union of love, based on matrimony between a man and a woman, which makes up the family, represents a good for all society that can not be substituted by, confused with, or compared to other types of unions,”
We all know at least one parent who will gush about how amazing their child is, how they never put a foot wrong and how awful and cruel other children are to them, even though they’re actually the most annoying child you’ve ever met. Well for the Catholic Church, traditional marriage is that child. Not willing to ever accept that someone else might have an equally nice child, the Catholic Church would if it could home educate their child and make sure no-one ever saw them because all they would do is poison their minds with thoughts of things like well happiness and fun. Dirty dirty words.
4. Roman Catholic Bishops Criticise Ireland’s Civil Partnership Bill
“…is going to undermine marriage by conferring all the rights on same-sex unions as marriage, equating same-sex union to marriage itself.”
“A husband is a man who has a wife: a wife is a woman who has a husband. A same-sex couple cannot be husband and wife.”
“A grave injustice if the State ignores the unique and proper place of husbands and wives, the place of mothers and fathers, and especially the rights of children, who deserve from society a clear understanding of marriage as they grow to sexual maturity.”
And here we go with the overprotective parent again. Unhappy with the thought that another children might get exactly the same great mark in a test as their child, these Roman Catholic Bishops in Ireland are committed to doing everything they can to undermine everyone else so they keep that golden position.

5. Catholics For The Common Good Explain Their Opposition To Gay Marriage
“Same- sex “marriage” is just a symptom of a more serious problem that is affecting children in every family — the redefinition of marriage, the family, and human sexuality.”
From the way that the Catholic Church talks about the LGBT community you’d think we were all powerful dictators, not a minority group. Yes, you did indeed read the thoughts of the Catholics For The Common Good (which obviously excludes the LGBT community) right, us getting “married” will act to cause a wave of problems to wipe across the world destroying families in it’s wake.
