5 Cool Lights Guaranteed To Bring Light As Stylish And Gorgeous As You To Your Home

Do you sign a disappointed sigh each time you turn on your average light and it gives out an average bit of lighting? Well okay we don’t either but what we do do is let out a big “Wow” when a cool light comes our way and gives off light in a way that’s so cool we wish we could be just like it when we grow up, and here are five such cool lights we’ve discovered online that we’d really like to be.

Recycled Food Packaging Lights

Designed by Dutch artist, Anke Weiss, these lights are not only stunning but a great example of eco design. Wanting to show the transformation of a mass product into something very unique, Weiss has taken the one element of food products that usually becomes garbage – the packaging – and turned it into the star of the show.

Currently it looks like it’s more of a design project than a commercial project but we definitely think Anke should start selling them – we’d buy them!

Ogle Pendant Lamp

Designed by the super talented designers of the Stockholm based company Form Us With Love, and produced by lightning manufacturer Atelje Lyktan, the Ogle is a cross between a spotlight and a pendant light, and is super sleek with it’s matte black lacquer shell and LED fitting inside. Super cool on it’s own,  it looks even better as part of a group, although saying that we do think there is something a bit alien and Doctor Who about the way they hang down (well either that or we’ve been watching too much of the man and this tardis recently).

You can find out more about the Ogle light at Form Us With Love.

De Knoop Light

Looking like something our grans have knitted us swearing that it is a scarf / leg warmer / bottle holder, these De Knoop lights by Ka-Lai Chan are amazingly made from a single electric cable that has been styled using crochet and knitting techniques with a bulb connector then attached to give the light.

Each totally unique and handmade it’s definitely something that’s going to be a talking point and can be ordered direct from Ka-Lai Chan’s website.

Liquid Lamp

Styled to look as though it’s melting down the wall, this lamp may be one of the smaller featured on this list but is one that’s definitely going to grab the attention of any guests to your house and can also be ordered as a table lamp.

The Liquid Lamp can be ordered online from Kyouei Design.

Rich Brilliant Willing Swarovski Table Chandelier

If you’re someone who likes the understated look we can safely say this probably isn’t going to be the table lamp for you. Alternatively if you like nothing more than making people gasp with delight and excitement at all the cool, stylish things in your home, this Swarovski table chandelier has to to find it’s way onto your table.

Designed as the name suggests using Swarovski crystal, the inspiration of the designer, Rich Brilliant Willing, is apparently less about the crystal structure itself but how it acts to throw light in unexpected ways across the  surface it’s on.

Bonus Light : The Lightblade Umbrella

You know how we’re always complaining about how dark it is under our umbrellas? Well okay maybe we’re not, but that hasn’t put us off totally falling in love with the Lightblade Umbrella. Looking rather plain and boring at first glance, it turns out this is no ordinary umbrella because with the flick of a switch the shaft magically lights up just like a light sabre. The result? You can now see where you’re going (we’re still going along with it being very dark under umbrellas) as well as fight off evil enemies that come your way.

The only downside is there’s no sound effects, so you’re going to have to make your own. Currently we’re going with a SWOOOOOOOOOOSH WOOOOOSH sound in the office.

The Lightblade Umbrella is available from I Want One Of Those.
