5 Gay Rights Posters Guaranteed To Get The Homophobes Flustered

Long speeches and indepth articles are great for helping people understand issues in more depth, however when the issue is that you don’t like someone because they are gay then it’s unlikely that you’re ever going to stop and read some lengthy piece that tells you what a fool you are. What you need for those kind of people is big in your face, can’t miss it if you tried tactics… like these 5 gay rights posters

1. Some People Are Gay. Get Over It!

Plastered on billboards across the UK and worn across the chests of everyone from Ian McKellan to Danni Minogue, Skunk Anansie and Dan Gillespie-Sells, this poster campaign from Stonewall was an attempt to get people to basically shut up that us gays exist and we’re not going anywhere…

2. It’s So Very Dear To Me, The Issue Of Gay Marriage

Not yet an adopted poster by any large organisation we don’t see it being long before it is as this is one that is seriously popular with those campaigning for change. Using the words of Liz Feldman it reads:

“It’s very dear to me, the issue of gay marriage. Or, as I like to call it: “marriage”. You know, because I lunch this afternoon, not gay lunch. I parked my car; I didn’t gay park it.”

3. ThinkB4YouSpeak – Gaming

Part of a campaign to combat homophobia in the gaming world, this GLSEN poster aimed to make people think before throwing around gay terms as insults.

4. Shocking For Who? Poster

We all know that the sports world isn’t the most openly gay friendly section of society so you can guarantee that this poster from International Day Against Homophobia got people talking… and hopefully thinking. Well we did get a gay marriage support video out of Sean Avery..

5. Some People Hate Spiders

Sure to get a strong dislike from all homophobic spider haters this poster by LGBT Youth Scotland couldn’t put things any simpler. Being scared of spiders is irrational, but it’s understandable. Being disrepectful and cruel to someone just because they fancy the same sex. There’s no explaining that away.
